An intense day above the city of Ascoli Piceno which we can admire first from above and then from below , thanks to the panoramic view from Monte Girella. We will first visit, from the outside, the hermitage of San Marco as we pass through the chestnut woods of Ascoli. The day will end in the beautiful Piazza del Popolo in Ascoli Piceno.
This excursion is open to everyone, it is of medium difficulty, in all about 7 or 8 km.
We will see the first the first Crocus Vernus that colour the meadows of half a hillside.
As we pass through woods of awakening beech trees progress will be slow but rewarded with interesting and unusual aspects of nature to notice.
Before arriving at the top of Montagna dei Fiori where we will enjoy one of the most extraordinary panoramic vantage points, we will come across some strange stone shaped igloos called Caciare constructed with dry stones and used once upon a time by shepherds as shelter huts for both their animals and themselves, but also used above all for the production of milk and cheese.
If the snow has completely melted on the slope to the Lago we will be able to see the small mirror of water known as Lago di Straccia where the view towards Gran Sasso takes your breath away.
Also we recommend that you check carefully the equipment and do not forget to bring:
Small backpack, energy bars + 1 liter of water + sandwich or lunch bag, hiking boots, a change of clothing and a change of shoes, raincoat.
